The one where Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 failed to launch
This morning I experienced something rather strange (but also somewhat expected) - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 failed to load. It got stuck at between 55% and 60% during the loading process.
If this happens to you too, I think I know why. It’s a corrupted cache.
Here’s how to fix it (it fixed it for me):
Make sure you do NOT have Flight Simulator 2024 running.
Find Flight Simulator 2024 in the Windows launcher
Right click on the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 icon, and select “App Settings”.
Scroll down and click both the “Repair” and “Reset” buttons.
Start the Simulator again.
That’s it!
Because Flight Simulator 2024 is cloud based, it caches a lot of data locally - and that can become corrupted when the simulator crashes (all too frequent at the moment). If it gets too mangled and the sim stalls on launch, you’ll need to do perform the above.
Don’t worry - you won’t lose any of your configuration (or at least, I didn’t).
