Practicing Visual Recovery from Unusual Attitudes in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A brief video looking at the tactics you might employ to recover an aircraft from an unusual attitude in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It's worth noting that this is a LOT easier in a simulator than in the real aircraft, because you're not being tipped upside down or thrown around the cockpit while trying to make sense of your situation - the guiding principles apply though:
Observe your acceleration and react accordingly with the throttle
Find the horizon, and bring the nose back to the horizon via the most efficient route
Roll rather than pitch for your immediate reaction.
There's no better practice for this (strangely) than dogfighting - so if you have a friend to stage mock dogfights with, it will make you MUCH more comfortable with 3D aerobatics and the forces in play.
Apologies for the low voice levels in the early part of the video
