Practicing CROSSWIND circuits at Wycombe Air Park in the Cessna 152 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
We return to Wycome Air Park in the Cessna 152 once again - practicing cross-wind circuits. I set the simulator up with a 10 knot wind perpendicular to the runway - enough to make us really think about the circuit, the approach and the landing. I used the "crab" technique on approach, and turned the aircraft to the runway direction just before touch-down.
It's worth noting - following feedback from ealier videos - that Wycombe Air Park is a bit of an outlier - so perfect as a training location. The circuit is not a typical pattern - it has specific reference points, and noise abatement areas to avoid.
You can find information on the RWY 24 circuit in the following places online:
I'm still quite variable in these sessions - making lots of small mistakes - and adding more difficulty each time too. It's an interesting journey, a great challenge, and will hopefully improve my airmanship all-round.
We're getting closer to spins :)
