Livestream testing phpVMS ACARS with the iniBuilds Airbus A300 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Late last night I began testing out an installation of phpVMS - a “next step” in the evolution of virtual airline systems. An “all up” test following several nights of programming airfields, fleets, aircraft, and flights into the system.
The possibilities of the new system are endless - and the ACARs client is really nice. It’s going to take time though - there’s a lot to learn, a lot to build, a lot to document, and a lot to just plain figure out.
Anyway… I just thought it might be worth sharing what’s been keeping me busy for the last few days.
The new system is invite only for the moment - while a few of us tinker, test, break, fix, and shape the new system. We may be some time.
As an example, I spent most of the evenings this week writing software to generate the flights - based on vast swathes of performance data. Gathering together the MDW, MTW, MZFW, and MLW for a huge range of aircraft types is no small task. Add to that the seating plans, classes of passenger seating, cargo capacities, and so on - and you can see what’s been keeping me quiet :)
As soon as I have more to share, I’ll let you know.
