Imminent arrival on XBox - the PMDG Boeing 737 family of aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator
The one where I prepare a huge playlist of 737 videos to help new XBox pilots get up to speed with the Boeing 737 family of aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator
If rumors are true, the PMDG Boeing 737 family of aircraft will arrive in the Flight Simulator marketplace for XBox users either this week or next.
To help get the XBox community up-to-speed with the aircraft, I have pulled my past videos about the 737 together into a playlist.
Here's where you can find the functional start-up checklists I use in several of the videos:
Enjoy!
Beginners Guide to Starting the PMDG Boeing 737-700 from Cold and Dark (Revised and Updated)
A revised and updated run-through of the functional steps required to start the PMDG Boeing 737-700 from cold and dark - explaining what we are doing along the way, and why we are doing it.
I cover everything from how to get to a "cold and dark" state, to taking off, and climbing into the sky. It's worth noting - this is an entirely functional start-up procedure, missing out many of the real-world checks and balances that would be performed.
How to configure the Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrant for the PMDG 737-700 in MSFS
A quick guide to setting up the Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrant to work something like correctly for the PMDG 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Beginners guide to programming the FMC in the PMDG Boeing 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A very basic beginners guide to programming the flight management computer (FMC) in the PMDG Boeing 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - showing how to programme a route, how to modify that route, how to fill performance data, and how to view the route within the aircraft.
Beginners guide to Routes and Airways in LittleNavMap and the PMDG 737 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A beginners guide to programming routes involving airways and flight corridors in both LittleNavMap and the PMDG Boeing 737 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - along the way we pick apart what a flight plan actually means, program it in, then check it within the aircraft.
Making a simple route in LittleNavMap, and replicating it in the PMDG Boeing 737 in Flight Simulator
A subscriber to the channel - and a newcomer to flight simulation in general - asked if I could walk through programming a route into LittleNavMap, and then setup the same route in the Boeing 737 FMS - just to show the absolute basics. This video doesn't get into performance, cruise levels, airways, or anything like that - just the basic departure, destination, SID, STAR, runway choice, and some simple modification of the route.
Everything you wanted to know about route planning in the PMDG 737-700 FMC but were afraid to ask
A tour of the darker corners of the PMDG Boeing 737-700 FMC (Flight Management Computer) in Microsoft Flight Simulator - covering:
Adding waypoints
Removing waypoints
Flying directly to a waypoint (DIRECT TO)
Adding custom or "vector" waypoints
Adding "Abeam" waypoints (ABM)
Changing your intercept course into waypoints (INTC)
Flying offset courses (OFFSET)
Range rings
We cover a lot of ground, and make some small mistakes along the way. I never edit anything, so you get to see me fix problems too. Hopefully this will be interesting for you!
Advanced route planning features of the PMDG Boeing 737-700 FMC in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A quick look at some of the more advanced route planning features in the PMDG Boeing 737-700 FMC - including creating custom waypoints in your flightplans, creating "abeam" waypoints in your flightplan, and drawing range rings within your flight plan.
Beginners guide to starting the PMDG Boeing 737-800 from cold and dark in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A beginners guide to starting the PMDG Boeing 737-800 from cold and dark in Microsoft Flight Simulator - following the functional steps required to get the aircraft up and running, to program a flight plan, and to take off.
Beginners guide to starting the PMDG Boeing 737-900 from cold and dark in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A quick look at starting the new PMDG Boeing 737-900 from cold and dark in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This is a functional guide to getting the aircraft up and running - without many of the checks and balances a real crew would perform. We get the aircraft ready, perform a take-off, and VNAV climb-out. We look at programming the flight plan, and get our first taste of a bigger, heavier 737.
Beginners Guide to ILS in the PMDG 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A beginners guide to ILS in the PMDG 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - taking the aircraft out for two manual circuits - demonstrating the cockpit settings to enable ILS, and how the symbology reflects your position in the sky. Next we enable a full auto-pilot led ILS approach, and auto-land.
Beginners guide to landing the PMDG 737-800 in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Some practice landings in the PMDG 737-800 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - first a manual touch-and-go, then a fully automated ILS landing with approach and flare mode.
Flight Simulator Live Stream Transatlantic Flight in the PMDG Boeing 737-700
A live flight crossing the Atlantic from London to New York in the PMDG Boeing 737-700. I try these things out so you don't have to :) Estimated flight time - 7 hours :)
Flight Simulator Live Stream from Kochi to Nagasaki in the PMDG 737-700
A live flight taking the PMDG 737-700 from cold and dark on the ground at Kochi, to Nagasaki in Japan.
Flight Simulator Live Stream Transatlantic London to New York in the PMDG 737-700
Another crack at the transatlantic flight from London Heathrow to JFK in New York in the PMDG 737-700 - let's see if the simulator holds up this time! I will be working during the flight, but will try to dip into the live chat along the way.
Flight Simulator Live Stream from London Gatwick to Cairo Egypt in the PMDG Boeing 737-700
A live flight flying from London Gatwick to Cairo Egypt in the PMDG 737-700 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. We start cold and dark on the ground, plan the flight in LittleNavMap, then fly the route live :)

We take the aircraft from cold and dark on the ground at Nagoya, configure it for flight, explore VNAV on the climb out, and then take more control through the STAR into Matsuyama - finishing with a manual final approach to find out how the 737-900 really handles.
Flying the PMDG Boeing 737-900 from Osaka to Nagasaki in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Tonight I took the PMDG Boeing 737-900 from Osaka to Nagasaki, Japan, in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I think if anything, it highlighted how quickly you can become rusty with an aircraft type if you don't fly it regularly - or rather, in this case, rusty with procedures. I always struggle while talking, showing, and doing (one too many things to do at once), and end up dropping the ball - or in this case, not reading my own checklist. Still - all good fun, and always a lesson to be learned :)
Flying the PMDG Boeing 737-800 from Sestri to Naples in Microsoft Flight Simulator
A quick flight from Sestri to Naples in the PMDG Boeing 737-800 in Microsoft Flight Simulator - exploring the FMC, re-programming our route en-route, and doing a very unconventional (and rather steep) descent into Naples over the beautiful hills of southern Italy.
