Flying the new PMDG Boeing 777F from Nice to Gatwick in Flight Simulator 2024
Tonight we're flying the new PMDG Boeing 777F from Nice to Gatwick in Flight Simulator 2024. We'll have a good look around the plane, and then attempt to get it in the air and back down in one piece. Should be fun!
Debrief
Interesting flight! I don’t know if I was imagining the sound being very low from the engines of the aircraft. Perhaps the 777 really is that quiet? I’ll have a check through the sound settings of my computer to make sure Windows hasn’t pulled a fast one on me, and modified the sound mixer controls behind my back.
The landing was… interesting. What you couldn’t see from the view from the cockpit was the aircraft sinking and losing speed while on finals - and me fighting it. Granted, I went “fully manual”, which exposed that aspect of it’s performance characteristics, but it was still really instructive (as ever, every flight I do becomes a test flight!).
It will be interesting to take it out for another flight soon and perhaps practice some approaches - to nail the required speed, trim, and approach attitude for a smooth landing.
Of course it would also have helped enormously if an AI aircraft had not flown through us on approach :) Like I said in the stream - when SayIntentions release their traffic simulations, it will be a game-changer.
Functional startup procedure
I make use of my own hand-written functional procedure to get the aircraft up and running - you can get a copy of it from the link below:

I use SayIntentions.AI to provide air traffic services during the flight. SayIntentions.AI have given me a link for you to click that will sign you up, and help support my YouTube channel at the same time - click below to join, and try SayIntentions.AI out for free!
